Petit Picotin

Meet Astrid from Petit Picotin.

London, September 2016.

Back in July, in Paris, I met Astrid and discovered her beautiful linen and colourful collection. Astrid started her career working for Petit Bateau or Comptoir des Cotonniers. Two brands that look very much like her, chic, modern and approachable…

She then got two little girls and decided to launch her own brand. She went for beautiful French linen, simple lines and a perfect palette of colours. She designs everything and her collection is then produced in beautiful Portugal (I have a secret dream to move to Lisbon one day….!). I loved the simplicity and yet coherence of her collection. I loved the colours, these animal shapes that kids will love as much as parents, these cute cushions (yes, I am obsessed with cushions!) with pretty words. They are plain, which means they go with everything and you can mix and match them with other decor items from other brands with patterns, they are easy to gift as will literally fit in any child’s bedroom…

She can personalise her creations... Just email me at for more information! I can liaise with her to get you what you want!

All that to say, that I couldn’t resist to bring Petit Picotin on board. Another pretty story, with nice people, one of these very very young brand that I am so very happy to bring into the UK.

Astrid, just back from holidays, little one starting nursery, between the launch of her website and her new collection photoshoot, took some time to answer our questions. Merci Astrid ;-)

>> What is the story behind your brand?

I decided to launch PETIT PICOTIN just a year ago. The idea came after the birth of my first daugther. I really liked the personlised gifts that we had received but when I wanted to get some for my friends' babies, I was often disappointed by what I could find. It was either too classic or the quality wasn't amazing. That's why I decided to bring a bit of freshness in that market segment!

>> What are you the most proud of?

I feel very happy and proud when I see kids' bedrooms decorated with my PETIT PICOTIN creations!

>> How do you find the balance between work and family?

For now, I still haven't found the perfect balance... I am trying! I work a lot but I also try to make the most of every second I spend with my family. It does feel like it never stops since I embarked on this new adventure... it is exciting and I love it!

>> What are your future challenges and dreams for your brand?

The next challange is round the corner (mid Sept) with the launch of my online website. And as far as dreams are concerned... I have many. But I guess, the first one would be for PETIT PICOTIN to be successful!

>> You in a few words.

Only just 30, entrepreneuse, happy mum of two little girls (Prune, 2 and Philippine, 8 months) and in love!

>> 3 things that you like/ don’t like?

Like : Pastas and courgettes (I have them every day!), sharing moments with my family and simple pleasures.

Don’t like : the crying, the crowd and grapefruits

>> Your typical mumpreneur day?

My girls wake me up at 7am and the day starts! Bottles, showers, nappies, dressing up everybody... then I make sure I spend some time with them before dropping them at nursery: we play, read stories, we sing, laugh... gives me a boost for the day! I am at my desk at 9am and start with shipping orders, emails, social medias..

Then I usually try to organise my meetings during lunch time, or I meet a friend to share some pastas quickly! In the afternoon, I try to focus on the development of the brand. Then at 6pm, I go and get my little ones. My evening routine 'bath - dinner - sleeping time', that's 2 full-on hours but I am liucky enough that my husband don't leave the office late and usually comes back to help me. We always to try to spend some quality time the 4 of us before putting them to bed and our evening starts at 8:30pm! I usually reply to a couple of emails in the evening but try to only do it when there is an emergency...
